Verdict

DUKE OF HAZZARD revealed major improvement when upped to 7f for the first time when staying on steadily to claim the minor placing in the Chesham Stakes at the Royal meeting. He also displayed sufficient speed to come home runner-up behind Queen Of Bermuda over the minimum trip at Windsor and sets a goodly standard. However, this is far from a penalty kick as both Federal Law and Mordred shaped with well above-average promise on their respective debuts at Newcastle and Newmarket respectively. Both should progress here in a fascinating contest and are youngsters to keep on the right side for the rest of the campaign.
