Sharav is given the vote to land this nursery as he tackles this trip for the first time. Returning after a two month absence last time, a combination of a spell on the sidelines and the sharp five at Sandown appeared to find him out. He tracked the pace but got squeezed up inside the final furlong when his chance of winning had gone but his place claims remained intact. Although it was only an auction maiden, it did not look a bad contest at the time and a mark of 65 should be exploitable. The Richard Hannon yard hold a strong hand in it with the top-weight Our Day Will Come and Rich Red. The last named has been highly tried all this season and had Helidor who runs in the second race just a place in front last time. Jockey bookings suggest Our Day Will Come is the better fancied of the pair. He has shown enough in maidens to suggest a nursery is well within his grasp while Swingfire made a successful return to the turf at Newmarket but has a 7lb rise to deal with. Hawkspur is another from the Hannon yard that comes into the equation. He found the six furlongs on the sharp side at Chester and today's trip will be more to his liking while River Dee meets Hawkspur on the same terms from that Chester contest. Sharav is selected to land it.
