In depth

Verdict

Provided that she has trained on from two to three, Asawer should be too good for these with Love Always and Maria Delfina rated the main dangers. The selection showed plenty of promise in a Doncaster maiden in October on her only start as a juvenile and the longer trip today should suit Sir Michael Stoute's filly, who is expected to open her account here before going on to better things. Love Always disappointed on her reappearance and remains a doubtful stayer so of more interest may be John Gosden's Maria Delfina, who ran with credit in both starts on the all-weather as a juvenile and now encounters turf for the first time. Nicky Henderson's runners on the flat are always worth a second look but Capitana is no world-beater over hurdles and is probably best passed over. Roger Charlton has his string in good form now so Aquilonia may improve on her debut effort but a bigger threat is likely to come from Amanda Perrett's Skyscape, who showed enough on her only start at two to suggest that she could win races. Asawer sets a decent standard though and Sir Michael Stoute's filly gets the vote.
