This has produced an interesting field headed by DERULO, a winner on the Flat in the UK and very impressive on his hurdling debut at Down Royal where he had subsequent winner Delegate 10 lengths behind. He looks a smart prospect and, though quite heavily penalised, can see off these rivals. Delegate was narrowly beaten by Britview Colin at Ballinrobe and the places can be confirmed while Champagne Harmony found 2m4f in Grade 1 company beyond him at Punchestown after a facile maiden victory at Thurles. Tesseract completed a hat-trick of bumper victories and though eventually well beaten on his hurdling debut at Leopardstown in December he was unsuited by the slow gallop and heavy going.

Weather Watch (IRE) 9-4 (11-0) Raced mainly in 4th, improved into 3rd 6f out and pushed along into 2nd over 3f out, ridden and dropped to 3rd from 2f out, short of room and switched right inside final furlong, kept on well without reaching winner, 2nd of 5, 1/2l behind Asbury Boss (11-0) at Listowel 1m 6f gd in Jun.
