Bessie Lou is an ordinary sort on the level but made a promising start over timber when third at Punchestown and should know more today. In A Nutshell is lightly raced and likely to improve on his fifth at Sligo while Hired Hand was fourth at Down Royal in November and has been in decent form on the Flat of late. John Kiely's newcomer Carlingford Lough could be interesting once he gets a bit of experience under his belt but another J P McManus-owned runner, MICKS, is preferred on this occasion. A winner between the flags, he's been easy to back in his two runs under Rules to date but seemed to be getting the hang of things when a staying-on sixth at Ballinrobe last month and should be more the finished article now.
