Music Maestro sets a good standard and is respected as a major player at this level, however, QUITE SPARKY has bags of scope for the season ahead and is worth a shot here; Jay's Treaty also comes into the reckoning as a potential improver. The last named showed plenty of zest at Brighton earlier this month and, as Mark Johnston's runners tend to thrive on being kept busy, the mount of Joe Fanning is a worthy candidate today - especially as Ripon favours front runners when the ground is on the fast side. Music Maestro has already had a number of chances to rid himself of the maiden tag and is in danger of becoming frustrating. This will be his first try on firm ground (assuming the forecast is correct) and his ability to cope has to be taken on trust. Therefore, it can pay to take side with Quite Sparky, whose pedigree suggests he will have more of an impact this term. The form of his final start as a juvenile reads well in the context of this race and, as this fellow also likes to race with the pace, the son of Lucky Story will be a very tough customer to deal with if he has thrived since he was last seen out.
