A tricky race to get involved with for a number of reasons but as Legal Approach has a good profile when fresh, he just edges a narrow vote of confidence over Silver Gift and Grampian - although it will be dangerous to rule out Putra Sandhurst as he held his own in good company last term and could be a prime candidate to tow them along today. However, he does have a nagging doubt surrounding his ability to handle the ground to dispel and may be there for the taking if his stamina begins to ebb near the finish. Therefore, as a proven performer on all types of ground, Legal Approach may be the better bet to handle the underfoot conditions. The Mark Johnston-trained five-year-old has obviously endured his share of problems and has a long absence to overcome. However, his trainer is adept at getting to the bottom of a training problem and it can be virtually assured that Legal Approach will be ready to do himself justice in spite of his 581-day absence from competitive action.
