Verdict

Fenners is a speculative choice in the finale when Gamesters Lady, Shenandoah Girl and Master Nimbus are others to bear in mind. There may also be more to come from Great Man, who returns to the Flat after running in point-to-points for his new connections. Formerly trained by Noel Chance, Great Man has little to find should he run to the best of his past form and he rates as a fair option for an each-way play. Master Nimbus won a couple of races over hurdles during the winter and is a versatile performer for a race like this. He is obviously of limited ability but can give today¿s pilot a safe conveyance. Shenandoah Girl created the impression that the handicapper has a way to go in capturing her when she won at Folkestone just over a fortnight ago. This is not much of a step up in grade and she can at least reverse the form with Wulimaster (if he takes his chance here after running at Hamilton on Wednesday.) Gamesters Lady went close in a similar race at Chester last time out and with the same jockey booked for the ride a big run can be expected. However, Fenners has his measure on a line through Thorny Mandate and, even though minimum stakes are advised, Mick Easterby appears to have another cannily placed contender in the lucky last.
