AKBABEND has shown enough to make him the one to beat today and he is nominated over Albaasha and French Applause. The selection drifted left last month at Newmarket to throw away a winning position. However, he was still only beaten a head and he is clearly a useful sort so he should take plenty of beating. Albaasha was reported to have run green last time when he ran no sort of race and he clearly didn't handle the track at Lingfield. He should have no such problems here and although he has a bit to prove at present it would be no surprise to see a much improved run this afternoon. French Applause is a well-bred newcomer and he catches the eye on his racecourse debut, especially as the stable have been in decent form. Red Cadeaux has hinted at ability and could prove best of the others, but Akbabend looks a useful prospect and he can make amends for his narrow defeat last time out.
