In depth

Verdict

Tamayuz Magic is invariably up with the pace but finds little when push comes to shove and has been beaten twice off this mark. Emaad had some decent form in maidens last term but appeared to go backwards when sent into handicaps, though in better company than this. Derbyshire makes his handicap debut but his pedigree suggests he'll do better over further while Musical Molly gained her only victory over 5f and she was well beaten when tackling this trip at Pontefract, though the ground was very testing. Petergate is consistent enough but has had enough chances and still looks a few pounds high in the ratings, as he did when chasing home We'll Shake Hands at Carlisle on Monday, while Ice Mayden hasn't been seen since a poor run at Southwell in November. MIGHTY MISSILE will need to have progressed over the winter but there's every chance he will have done so and his best run came on his debut last term so the lack of a recent run shouldn't be a problem - he gets the nod to spring a surprise.
