In depth

Verdict

STONIFIC will be sharper for a recent comeback over too short a trip. He’s back on a winning mark having landed a double over 2m at Beverley last year and should have the measure of these. Contrebasse finished in front of Stormin Norman when second over track and trip but ran poorly at Nottingham last time while Justified disappointed over today’s trip having earlier won over 1m6f at Chelmsford. Chocolate Box is another needing to put a below par effort behind him having placed on the all-weather earlier.

Chocolate Box (IRE) 14-1 (9-0) Slowly into stride, held up in last pair, outpaced and struggling 4f out, never a factor, tailed off, last of 8, 27 1/4l behind Hiroshima (9-11) at Ascot 2m hcp (3) gs in May.

Stormin Norman 7-1 (9-7) Behind and pushed along early, headway out wide over 2f out, ridden and not quicken 2f out, weakening when hung right over 1f out, 6th of 8, 8 1/2l behind Let Me Be (8-5) at Ripon 2m hcp (5) gs in May.
