Scotty's Future has been around the houses in sellers and claimers, but still sets a fair standard in this company. Cordage and the admirable Donnas Double are expected to give him the most to do. Donnas Double is a versatile performer that is still capable at this level. He should be thereabouts if he runs his usual race. Similar comments apply to Colway Ritz, who has given his connections plenty of enjoyment over the years. However, he is now getting a little long in the tooth and needs to prove that his interest is still there. Cordage represents a bigger threat, as he is far less exposed. The son of Dr Fong failed to win during his time with Gerard Butler but did shape as if he can pay his way when everything drops right for him. The ground is a slight worry though and he has something to prove on his first start for his new yard. Therefore, we go with Scotty's Future, who is back with David Nicholls after a spell with David Loder last year. Nicholls knows exactly how to get the best out of this seven-year-old, who won the Victoria Cup three years ago. Admittedly, he is not the same force he once was. But this is not the best of races and it looks there for the taking if Scotty's Future is in the right mood.
