          Verdict

          Now 6lb higher SELECT COMMITTEE can repeat his success in this race from 12 months ago. Captain Scooby has a 5lb pull with our pick for being beaten just over a length at Beverley when the pair met a couple of weeks ago. He has since gone on to frank that form with a Hamilton success and, while enhancing his own claims here, he has also done those of the selection no harm, for John Quinn's charge prevailed on the Westwood in spite of the worst draw of all from stall one. Incomparable is back on a very handy mark, while Bosun Breese and Mayoman are others who can get very competitive, but in a tricky contest Select Committee might just complete a hat-trick.
