Several have chances, with Compton Plume edging out Tribute and Winthorpe as the main hope. Others to keep tabs on in the betting market include: Flying Edge and Racoon, who have solid claims on the pick of their form. Racoon shaped as if he was on the way back when he was a good second at Haydock last month. He is off the same mark here and can go close if he continues to thrive. Flying Edge is a versatile type that is capable when he is in the mood. His trainer reports him to be a lazy type at home and he reserves his best for the racetrack. So a careful monitoring in the betting may provide a few clues as to whether he is in a buoyant mood today. Tribute just managed to get the better of the selection when they met at Catterick in July and has obvious claims on that run alone. However, he has been a little bit below par since then needs to have brushed up on his starting stalls procedure, so as not to throw his chance away with a slow start. Winthorpe has also got to be considered from his current mark, as he is 11lb lower in the ratings than the last time he was successful. He is on a long losing run, though, and needs everything to fall into place for him. As does Time N Time Again, whose strike rate is modest but is extremely well treated. He rates as excellent value for each-way backers to consider. However, Compton Plume has really got his act together well just now and has to be top of the list whilst he is in such good heart. The five-year-old has a bit more scope for improvement and has everything in his favour as he bids to extend his run of good form.
