First Empire merits serious consideration despite being set to carry top weight. With Suhezy, North Walk and Wee Charlie Castle fancied to pose the biggest threats from the rest. Wee Charlie Castle has a fair bit of experience to his name and is already receiving a little help from the handicapper. He was a fair third in a claimer last time out and is obviously in good heart at present. However, he is proving expensive to follow and looks risky for win only purposes. North Walk has improved with each run and can reverse the form that ties him in with Chase The Ace on these terms. This is easier than the maiden he ran in at Haydock in July and, as his yard have been flying, he is one to seriously monitor in the betting. Suhezy overcame a poor draw when winning at Thirsk in July. A mark of 60 is far from restricting for her and, as she has experience of the trip, she can also go well at fair odds. However, First Empire has already proved himself against this calibre of opponent and, with trip and ground in his favour, he has little to find to come out on top today.
