A desperate affair but it may pay to stick with the in-form Efidium over main market rivals, Bonito and Bodfari Pride. Neville Bycroft's Efidium has a little to find on official ratings but at least comes here in winning vein after causing a shock in a competitive handicap at Ripon last time which reads well in the context of this race. Bonito is favoured by the race conditions but has been below his best on the all-weather during the winter and may need more cut in the ground to show his best. Bodfari Pride is not the most consistent of animals and ran poorly last time but has claims on his previous Southwell success and Kevin Darley is an eyecatching booking. Wood Dalling is thrown in on his smart handicap form for Henry Cecil last year but looks a light of former days.
