In depth

Verdict

Harel Du Marais has looked as though a longer trip would suit in his last couple of races but the front-running Hisnameis Mrdevitt is 0-9 over hurdles, though he's performed well in decent company. Barry Connell has some very nice horses in the yard for this season and MARINE NATIONALE is certainly one of them. Very impressive in both bumper starts, he'll benefit from his rider's claim again and can make a successful hurdling debut. Viceregent didn't run well at Killarney after a narrow defeat at Cork but Santonito looks a threat. Gordon Elliott's charge only scrambled home in a Navan bumper in March but that was on heavy ground and he hadn't been beaten far behind subsequent dual Grade 1 winning hurdler The Nice Guy on good going on his debut at Fairyhouse.
