Favour may do you just that from her low draw, with Lady Pekan in with a chance and American Cousin not out of it despite his high draw. Favour took time to repay the faith in her this term but came good at Thirsk recently under a well judged ride from Jamie Spencer. She has always had ability but needs to strengthen up a bit, the problem being that she does not eat much at home. She looked keen enough nine days ago though, and in her current mood can follow up from a good draw in stall three. Lady Pekan has the inside berth and is well treated on form of old. She likes a stiff track and uphill finish so is one for the shortlist. American Cousin bounced back to form at Beverley, but had the run of the race and has more to do here from stall 17. David Chapman and Tony Culhane, fresh from their Ayr Gold Cup victory with Quito, team up with Soaked, winner of this race in 1998 but now 10lbs higher in the ratings. However, the stable also collected with Torrent three years ago so any moves for Soaked should be noted. There are too many ifs and buts to make this a solid betting proposition, but Favour is our idea of the winner to small stakes.
