Not an easy race for punters to kick off the card and Bolton Hall is the suggestion, with Bond Diamond, Gifted Flame and Bowl Of Cherries all short listed. Richard Fahey-trained Bolton Hall has never won at this trip, but has scored at both 7f and 9f in his time, and enjoys fast ground. He is some way below his highest winning mark now and needed his seasonal reappearance. He hasn't won in three attempts here, but this is perhaps a better chance for him than any of those runs and he gets the nod. Bond Diamond won a seller at Beverley last time out and this race is not much better, so with no penalty for that win she can go close. Gifted Flame has won at this trip in the past, but has not won in 13 starts over almost two years now and just lacks a bit of toe, so is opposed despite an ever-more attractive mark, while Bowl Of Cherries returns from both a lay-off and Banded company and although the gelding will carry some confidence after a couple of wins in that sphere, even this ordinary contest will be a test for him and we prefer Bolton Hall to score.
