Verdict
Saif Sareea turns out quickly and can defy his penalty at the expense of Ramsgill, Leslingtaylor and Zarova to name but a few. At first glance this looks a hard one to call, but Saif Sareea was so impressive at Beverley two days ago that we have to support him to shrug off a six-pound penalty here. Having run below-par on his last visit to Pontefract behind one of today's rivals Leslingtaylor, the five-year-old was always going to win at Beverley, despite having to be switched to deliver his challenge under Paul Hanagan. Nicky Lawes has been given the job of guiding him home now and can make the most of his five-pound claim to help give the gelding his third victory since joining Richard Fahey in the summer. He is taken to reverse course and distance form with Leslingtaylor, and a bigger threat may be Ramsgill who is fairly unexposed on only his second start for Nick Littmoden. This seems to be his best trip and he can be involved from the outset. Zarova has been consistent of late, and Adele Rothery certainly got the best out of Mick Easterby's gelding at Ripon the time before last. He is one for the short-list as well, but we are happy to side with Saif Sareea.
