The step up in trip and potential for some dig in the ground suggest that it may well be worth chancing handicap debutant CHICANE to break her maiden tag, with Star Addition and Cat O'Nine Tails among those who may have to wait for other days. The last-named is another who may well prefer it if conditions deteriorate. She stays 1m 4f but is dropped back to this stiff 10f today and in only her second handicap and with allowances to boot, she should be a leading contender. Star Addition has made the frame on his last two starts and remains on the same mark as the most recent of those. He wants fast ground to be at his best and is respected, though has it to prove if the heavens open. Avitus is becoming a regular in the frame and has similar claims today, while Descaro can't be ruled out with conditions as they are and the yard in good nick, though we will side with Chicane. A mark of 70 is none-too-taxing for this first handicap run, and the step up in trip looks ideal. If the rains come then pedigree suggests that she will also benefit, so we will give her the verdict.
