Verdict
Several interesting newcomers including Splash Point however AZRAEL sets a good standard and is preferred to Allegorio and Adlington. Alan McCabe's Makbul colt was 66/1 on debut at Doncaster but belied those odds with a sound fourth to Belgian Bill. He should have learnt plenty and could take some stopping. Downtown Boy is the only other rival with worthwhile form but even his sixth to Tinkertown won't scare the newcomers. Allegorio is related to plenty of classy winners but over ten furlongs plus, Adlington is out of a mare who won over this trip at two, whilst Splash Point cost 300,000 guineas which is no surprise given her strong American pedigree. The market should prove informative with some of the northern newcomers however the vote is placed on Azrael.
