      Verdict

Alhaazm looked a certain future winner when beaten less than a length in a Newbury handicap but couldn't handle heavy ground at Haydock. Harrovian is less exposed having been narrowly beaten over this trip at Newmarket and Lingfield. He could prove best of the Newmarket-based pair but both could be outstayed by BEYOND THE CLOUDS (NAP). Kevin Ryan's dual bumper and triple hurdles winner was fancied for the Scottish Champion Hurdle in April last year but didn't run up to his potential. He reappeared last month at Beverley in a race run at a crawl and was predictably outpaced before running on strongly when the race was all over. The newcomer Sible Hedingham has a nice pedigree and may prove best of the remainder.
