Verdict

JACK DAWKINS has not been seen since the back end of last season when winning back to back races at Doncaster, and is taken to score first time out this year at the expense of Rochefort and Once A Gulch. Connections of the selection have taken their time with this Fantastic Light colt and he will surely have his supporters. The fact that he has been absent for some time may put a few punters off but Henry Cecil is more than capable of producing his horses fit for action. Rochefort was a ready winner at Newmarket on his penultimate start before running disappointingly at Kempton last time out. He was hiked up eight pounds for his success and it does remain to be seen whether or not the handicapper has the measure of him. Once A Gulch is relatively unexposed with only three runs under his belt. He broke his maiden tag at Kempton before finishing fourth and a beaten favourite at Great Leighs thereafter. He will have to prove himself today but if showing his best he has every chance of being in the shake up. But for the winner we return to Jack Dawkins.
