Bendarshaan can make the return to maiden company pay off against Gironde, Jayer Gilles and Historic Place. Mark Johnston's four-year-old had every chance a furlong out when eventually beaten a total of three lengths Behind Wait For The Will at Newmarket 11 days ago. That was a creditable performance after a 68-day break and he should now be fully acclimatised after racing in the United Arab Emirates. Gironde's trainer seldom wastes his trips to Yorkshire and the three-year-old lines up after finishing down the field behind stablemate Admiral at Royal Ascot. Kieren Fallon rode him that day but he played up at the start and never got involved. Jayer Gilles looked a bit one paced at Chepstow but that was his debut so we can expect a bit more here, while Historic Place should cope better over this slightly longer trip than at Salisbury. Those mentioned all have the potential to do better, but we shall stick with Bendarshaan to come good.
