In depth

Verdict

Dawn Breaking, a three-times winner around here, is 8lb better off for a six-length beating by Challet at Ripon early last month so should get closer. The winner, who was completing a double, is 3lb higher but that was only his seventh start and there's more to come. Frankelio, who was well beaten, won a better race than this here in June and is only 1lb higher. Date In Vegas has had a couple of runs at Wolverhampton since a fair Newmarket debut but hasn't shown much while Red Jasper's three victories have been on different all-weather surfaces and he hasn't been seen since March. William Alexander was a disappointing favourite at Beverley after winning well there earlier so the vote goes to FRATERNITY, who has run in better company since scoring at this level at Ripon.
