In depth

Verdict

HMS President has been racing exclusively over 1m2f since scoring at this trip at Newcastle in November and keeps going up in the ratings without winning. Dashing Roger has been in excellent form all summer, scoring twice at Yarmouth and beaten narrowly on soft ground at Newmarket where he had SEA TROUT REACH a short-head behind. The latter didn't get going until too late that day and a stiffer test of stamina can see him reverse places and land this. Tom Collins finished last of five in that contest but David Elsworth wouldn't be sending him here without some hope while War Defender was nowhere near his best at Newcastle last time.
