Verdict
Named in honour of the founder of Timeform, this decent conditions contest can go to Godolphin's URBAN POET, who is far and away the top rated by the BHA and receives the age allowance to boot. The Dynaformer colt was prepared by Mark Johnston to win on his Hamilton debut in July, and he went very well in the Group 3 Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood soon after. He was well out of sorts at Chester last time, but he is very interesting now stepped up to this marathon trip. The ground will suit, and with at least a stone in hand he should really have too much class for them. Next best looks to be Just Lille, who has at least proved her stamina stretches as far as around two miles when winning at Warwick, and appreciates a quick surface. She is a consistent sort who looks capable of making a race of it. Bogside Theatre might find the going against her, but she ran well in this when runner-up last year and does at least have that as a positive, even if the yard is not red hot at present. Dolly Penrose is another who wants plenty of rain to be seen to best effect, and she will probably get home here if there is a drop, but without it she is likely to struggle. Urban Poet does have stamina to prove, but with the ground against anything else that could be taken seriously in opposition, we'll take him to confirm his class here.
