In depth

Verdict

This mares' only novices' hurdle can got to Flying Wanda ahead of Kendra, Eccentricity and Marrakech. Tony McCoy riding for Paul Nicholls is not something you see too often so give Flying Wanda plenty of respect. This one did fairly well on the Flat for Jeremy Noseda, winning a mile maiden and being placed a number of times. Her breeding suggests that she will be fine at today's type of trip over hurdles as her mother was a winning hurdler and there is staying blood in the pedigree. Also, as we say, Tony McCoy is an interesting booking so we think she has plenty going for her. German raider Kendra looks a danger. She ran fairly well when fourth here in a claimer over a longer trip on her first run in Britain and, in a race lacking any real strength in depth, has to have a place chance at least. She raced keenly last time so the shorter trip could well suit. Pointing recruit Eccentricity hails from a yard in form and showed enough at Taunton last time on her first run under Rules to be given a chance, while Marrakech has already won at Ascot, although she has been beaten twice since. This looks more her level though, and she ought to show in a better light. However, overall, we are going to side with Flying Wanda.
