This appears a good opportunity to give Infini a much needed confidence booster after losing his way over the larger obstacles at Stratford last time. The six-year-old gelding had previously landed a hurdles event at Market Rasen and went on to further success over fences on his next two starts at Newton Abbot and here in September. Martin Pipe's charge should prove too strong for Peartree House who was a useful mile handicapper on the level but was a promising third on his hurdling bow at Musselburgh in January before failing for stamina in testing conditions on two subsequent starts. The quicker ground will be in his favour but he still has a tendency to be too keen and may be outstayed on this occasion. Three Clouds suffered from a slipped saddle when pulled up on his sole previous attempt over hurdles but has been in fair form in staying handicaps on the level of late and should not be underestimated.
