A chance is taken with Hello Bud, who is preferred to Peveril Pride and Hazeljack. That said, a move for Kiltimoney would be interesting, as he has the proven stamina to make a fist of things and, as a previous course and distance winner, he has to be respected. A similar case can made for Strolling Vagabond, who won this race last year. However, he is much higher in the weights and his seasonal form has been most uninspiring this time around. Hazeljack is effective at this level and, having won off 21lb higher mark in the past, he is well treated on the pick of his form. There were signs of a revival from him at Warwick a fortnight ago and he can go close if he gets his act together. Peveril Pride has hit the bar in his last two outings and must be considered as a threat. However, only one win from 31 previous starts tells its own story and he needs everything to fall into place for him. Therefore, we prefer to side with Hello Bud, who has the proven stamina to push them all to the line and, with conditions not anticipated to be a problem, the David Wintle-trained gelding gets our vote.
