Ross River, Sixo, Johann de Vonnas and Jac An Ree are all shortlist material for this novices' hurdle and we will give Ross River the confident nomination. The selection was returning from an 18 month break when running out an impressive winner at Chepstow back in December, defeating Red Devil Robert. He looks a smart prospect and although his future is likely to be over the bigger obstacles, he looks the one to beat in this event. Sixo could give our choice the most to do as he has shown an above average level of form in bumpers, but his last run will have to be forgiven over hurdles when he was disappointing behind Joes Edge at Ascot. Johann de Vonnas is from a leading yard and was a fair third behind behind Major Option last time and he could be interesting if the market speaks in his favour. Jac An Ree is another who could be capable of running on into a place, but Ross River looks the type who could have a big future and he is the one they all have to beat.
