Verdict
Tonic du Charmil has ability but Martin Pipe's gelding has looked far from a natural over fences and a safer option looks to be Chef Tartare, who is preferred to Edmo Yewkay. The last mentioned ran up to his handicap mark when fourth to subsequent Scottish Grand National winner Joes Edge at Aintree last time and has to be respected, although he could probably do with dropping a couple of pounds. Len Lungo's Silken Pearls has a lot of weight for what he has achieved but is unexposed over fences, while Posh Stick probably has more to do than when winning at Carlisle on his most recent start. Sands Rising is consistent and can be relied upon to run his usual good race but may once more have to settle for a minor role with preference for the Paul Nicholls-trained Chef Tartare. The selection has had a relatively light campaign and remains open to plenty of improvement, particularly over fences. The testing conditions will suit the French bred gelding, who is taken to resume winning ways.
