Cake it Easy must be held in high regard by her connections. A winner over a mile and a half on the flat she was exposed in a competitive novice event on her hurdling debut at the Scottish National meeting at Ayr last month. She was then sent off favourite in a minor contest at Wetherby when falling two out looking beaten at the time. Although not the perfect start to her jumping career, this is not a great contest and as long as her confidence has not been knocked deserves another chance. Tom George has done well with his Polish-bred horses. He won at the Cheltenham Festival with Galileo, who was successful on the flat in Poland, and may have found another decent recruit in the form of Tulipa, who has won two from three on the flat. She has been beating the best in her native country but the form is tricky to weigh up. Her last win was over one mile five furlongs so she should have no problems with the trip and must be a serious contender. Averse and Paperound hail from the same yard of Nicky Richards but jockey bookings suggest that Averse has more ability. She has run with credit on both starts in bumpers, finishing runner-up in a competitive race at Wetherby then contesting in a championship version at Sandown last month with credit. She looks the ideal type to run up a sequence and with Tony Dobbin booked has to be on the shortlist. Midnight Arrow, Pharletta and Noras Legacy all need to improve on what they have shown so far. A race full of real novices, but on Flat form and with Tom George's eye for an Eastern European-bred horse, it might be worth siding with Tulipa.
