The return to a mile will suit Kiwi Bay and Observatory Star whose cards will be played late in the day but ARIZONA JOHN may trump them both. John Mackie's gelding failed in his hat-trick bid at Redcar but more use of him was made that day than when winning at Redcar and Yarmouth whilst it also represented a step up in class. David Probert takes over in the saddle today and may be able to bring the trainer's losing streak at this track to an end. Kiwi Bay ran as well as could have been expected at York and deserves plenty of credit for that run but he does need things to go his way and will need a career best to score from his current mark. Observatory Star failed to land a blow on the Knavesmire but wasn't too far behind the selection on his penultimate start and should be in the mix. South Cape will surely be placed to take advantage of a declining mark in due course but may be best watched at present as may Focail Eile be following a couple of slightly disappointing performances. Ocean Transit shaped with a modicum more promise last time and is worth a second look but Arizona John could be the ace in this pack.
