In depth

Verdict

An open handicap on which the blot could well be AESTIVAL, who is taken to score from Dark Ranger and Eight Days A Week. By Falbrav and out of a Nashwan mare, Aestival should be much better suited by this 10f trip than the sprint distances over which he was quietly campaigned last season. He should also relish this faster ground too, and the maestro Sir Mark Prescott has managed to get him in here off a mark of just 53. He may prove to be one of the snips of the season, and we are more than happy to side with him. Dark Ranger won at Lingfield last month and went close again under a penalty at Wolverhampton and this step up in trip looks ideal for him, so he should again be thereabouts. Sylvester Kirk's string are beginning to fire and Eight Days A Week stayed on well to score for him at Southwell the other day. He runs under a penalty today and if any rain is around to slow up the ground then he would have to be seriously considered. Key Of Fortune represents a yard going well and was unlucky to meet with traffic problems here last time. She might just be a decent each way price here and can go well, but with little else appealing we'll take Aestival to score.
