Paul Cole's Desert Strike made an encouraging return over course and distance earlier this month when a close up fifth behind Ridley Didley and he has to be respected having slipped to a decent mark but a better bet looks to be Milton Bradley's MEIKLE BARFIL, who holds the Cole runner on running here last time and he gets the vote with The History Man rated the best of the rest. The selection is nothing out of the ordinary but that was a decent effort by him here last time and he has an obvious chance racing off the same mark today. Stable companion Bluebok has been running creditably on the Polytrack of late and has to be considered back on turf, while Phil McEntee's Thoughtsofstardom ran well over six furlongs at Folkestone a week ago and is just as effective over the minimum trip so has to be respected. Ruth Carr's Tournedos has been given a chance by the handicapper having been dropped 10lbs since his most recent start and is another to consider along with The History Man, who is better than he showed on his reappearance. Several of these have claims in a competitive contest but Meikle Barfil is marginally preferred and can resume winning ways.
