Laconicos will be hard to beat here, with Kanad, General Nuisance and Dreamer's Lass all to be considered for a place. Laconicos was fully expected to get Pat Eddery's new venture off to a flyer when lining up as favourite at Leicester on his debut in April, but found one too good in the shape of Berkhamsted, who mastered him by a short-head. The winner is reckoned useful, and now, with the run under his belt and with Kieren Fallon booked to ride, David Loder's juvenile should be a different proposition. The son of Foxhound has Redcar's Two-Year-Old Trophy on the agenda this autumn, so it will be a major surprise if he fails here. Kanad can give him most to do, having also shaped quite well when third on his Yarmouth introduction. Ben Hanbury's colt played up in the paddock beforehand but that did not stop him showing up well, and the drop back in trip should not be a hindrance. Of the rest, General Nuisance has a bit of experience and Dreamer's Lass come from a yard that excels with sprinters. However, they will all have to go some to stop Laconicos who gets a confident vote.
