Both on racecourse form and jockey bookings there seems to be little between the John Dunlop pair Goodwood Prince and Caught In The Dark. Both ran reasonably well when encountering a soft surface earlier in the year although since have only raced on a sound surface. Slight preference goes to the latter named who won well at Warwick before perhaps not being suited by Ascot last time out. El Coto has shown himself to be a tough performer this term and has shown ability on this sort of surface. He is fresh from a couple of months off the track and should go well for his in-form trainer. This extended six furlongs may stretch his stamina however. La Campanella has had a busy campaign and has run well over this course and distance. He acts on any surface and cannot be easily dismissed. A reproduction of his recent Newmarket run should see him go close. Behind him that day was Cashel Mead who is weighted to reverse that form. That was a fine run by the John Spearing-trained filly who is given the TEAMtalk nod to land this tricky event at decent odds.
