    Verdict

The four-year-old Counsel has a lengthy absence to overcome and has been gelded since last seen but has placed in three of his four starts to date. However, stablemate SUPER CHIEF caught the eye under tender handling at Doncaster at the start of the month and has more scope. Border Edge missed the break at the same track in March and is another likely improver with Lermontov preferred to Irish Approach of the debutants.
