A tricky classified race in which Shasta is selected ahead of Apache Point, Gabor and Stolen Song. Ralph Beckett's filly was winning off marks as high as 77 last year and while she has taken a while to come to hand this year, there is every chance that she can follow up a recent win at Windsor. Gabor isn't the quickest of conveyances but he is fairly game. He was given a peach of a ride by his amateur pilot at Brighton and if he is similarly ridden today, there has to be every chance of a place at least. Apache Point does not know how to run a bad race. The step up in trip is an unknown and the market should offer most clues. Stolen Song is likely to take on a front-running brief. Mick Ryan's charge has a decent chance at the weights although there remains a slight concern about the ability to stay ten furlongs. Platinum Boy was a prolific scorer for Kevin Ryan over shorter trips and has now been claimed out of the yard. Having looked at the options; we will side with Shasta to continue her return to form with a victory in our finale.
