In depth

Verdict

Free Trip is just about given the verdict in a competitive affair in which Truly Wonderful and One Upmanship all hold solid form claims. John Gosden's charge hacked up at Haydock last time out and clearly must have been held in high regard at Manton given the entry he still holds in the Dewhurst at present. Seb Sanders has been booked ahead of Dean Corby for the mount on Truly Wonderful. Connections appear to have had some difficulty in earmarking a trip for the filly but the Channon team couldn't be in better form at the moment and any market confidence should be noted. One Upmanship didn't do too much wrong behind a well-handicapped rival at Lingfield and the handicapper has at least given him another chance by keeping him at the same handicap mark. However, Rules For Jokers may have a chance of overturning that Lingfield form. Jamie Osborne's representative didn't stay the seven furlongs and may be better at today's trip. Loveisdangerous is an ex-Nigel Tinkler castoff now based with Don Enricio Incisa. Kim Tinkler knows the horse well but it is difficult to envisage him being good enough at this level. Having considered the alternatives, we believe that Free Trip has possibly got in lightly off his current rating of 71 and while the ground will be a little quicker than that at Haydock Park, it would be disappointing if the horse were not good enough to exploit his favourable rating.
