Golband won a shade cosily last time and is taken to follow up at the expense of Portmeirion, Born For Dancing and Millsy. Like many of Luca Cumani's inmates, Golband has been brought along patiently, and after finally showing some potential at Yarmouth in August, it was no surprise when she duly obliged at Folkestone later that month. To be fair, she did not beat much, but the manner of that easy success suggests that she can now hold her own at this slightly higher level at least, and with title-chasing Jamie Spencer taking over, she should make a bold bid to follow up. Spencer's nearest rival in the championship race, Seb Sanders, is on board Portmeirion who has been placed to win two of her last three starts, the latest of which was at Lingfield on the turf course. This will be the fourth time that Seb has ridden this filly so he will know what she is capable of, and she should give her younger rival most to do. Born For Dancing can be considered unlucky not to have won at Goodwood six days ago when sent off as favourite as the breaks did not come in time. With a clear run here she should definitely be involved in the finish as well, while Millsy, another beaten favourite at Goodwood when partnered by Jamie Spencer, makes her handicap debut and hails from last year's winning stable. Golband is on upgrade now though and can prove difficult to beat.
