There's enough in Befortyfour's breeding to suggest that this softer surface should not hinder and the three-year-old gets the vote against his elders; Chief Editor and Loch Verdi join Moorhouse Lad, Peace Offering and Rowe Park on a rather lengthy list of dangers. The selection comes here on the back of a fair second at Newmarket, although those who backed him into favouritism that day may not agree. He has had a big reputation for a while after plenty of promise as a juvenile, and this Nunthorpe entry now needs to prove that he merits a crack at a bigger pot. Peace Offering won this race in 2006 and won well recently at Newmarket however his penalty makes life tough today. Rowe Park has ability but hasn't produced it on the track this season, so of more interest may be Chief Editor who returns from a 111 day absence. He has been progressive in handicap company and is another with big race entries in the future. Loch Verdi represents a stable having a fine season and she needs respect; progressive last season, this consistent daughter of Green Desert would probably prefer the sun to shine rather than the rain to fall. At a price Moorhouse Lad may be capable of better than recent efforts now race-fit, however it is Befortyfour who gets the nomination.
