slowly into stride, held up towards rear, some late headway, never nearer
led until 2f out, soon weakened
chased leaders, effort and hung left from 2f out, soon beaten
held up in touch, driven 3f out, stayed on but never pace to challenge
tracked leaders, ridden and effort over 2f out, soon one pace
mid-division, weakened 2f out
always prominent, led 2f out, driven clear entering final furlong, easily
held up mid-division, ridden 3f out, soon no impression
Roger Charlton has leading claims in this division too and Melodramatic may well be able to provide him with a quickfire double. Desert Chill, Aura, Flure De Leise and the expensive purchase Haqeeaq are possible dangers. The selection ran in a Listed race on debut and went into all the notebooks when returning in fourth, beaten just over a length and the form has worked out well. She was a short-priced favourite for her seasonal return as a result and did little wrong despite being beaten a head with the first two pulling a long way clear of the third; compensation awaits. Aura was a well-backed favourite in a maiden won by Infallible and is presumably thought capable of better, Desert Chill was favourite for both starts last year and was a shade unfortunate to bump into some useful sorts whilst Haqeeaq is well bred and fetched a fair sum at the sales. Flure De Leise is one that could go well at a price as she showed promise in a Cork maiden, finishing behind runners from the big yards but she's more of an each-way option whereas our selection, Melodramatic, is likely to be very short indeed.
