        Verdict

        This doesn't look as strong as the first division and ROSEBURG can go one better than at Doncaster in August. His breeding suggests he's the type to improve with age and the further step up in trip will suit as he's a half-brother to couple of winners who stayed at least 1m4f. GM Hopkins should probably have won at Newbury on his debut last May but couldn't justify favouritism the following month and hasn't been seen since. Spirit Of Soul has been placed in a couple of all-weather maidens but probably needs more in this while the 100,000gns yearling Stampede may need more time. Lacan looks the pick of the newcomers ahead of the filly Distant Shadow.
