In depth

Verdict

This does not look the strongest of races and it is hard to get away from Jonjo O'Neill's Well Saved, who may have been a fortuitous winner at Market Rasen when last seen in March but he can race off just a 1lb higher mark today and has solid claims of following up so gets the vote ahead of Reasonably Sure and Vanilla Man. The last mentioned was unfortunate when in command before unseating his rider at the last in a race here last month but he disappointed at Uttoxeter subsequently off his new mark and may be best watched at present. Outside Investor has slipped to a decent mark but is hard to back with any confidence on recent form, while Hydromatic is less exposed than most of these but has given little cause for optimism. Resplendent Star has dropped to a winning mark but has not won for three years and it is hard to see that changing here and of more interest may be Reasonably Sure, who has shown gradual improvement in recent outings. Well Saved has solid claims though and he is preferred.
