led until 2nd, led 3rd, headed 5th, jumped left, not fluent and dropped to 3rd 4 out, mistake next, rallied to chase winner before 2 out, held but kept on
jumped right and not always fluent, chased leaders, went 2nd after 4 out, led after next, stayed on well
led 2nd until 3rd, led 5th, headed after 3 out, weakened next
Sir Sholokhov won as he liked on his chasing bow at Sedgefield and, though he didn’t beat much, has any amount of scope. However, he is 9lb higher here and getting only 2lb from GO LONG, who was runner-up to a well-handicapped sort at Sandown last month. The third has also run well since to frank the form. Ballyhill clearly didn’t stay 3m at Doncaster but is looking a shadow of his former self.
Go Long (IRE) 15-2 (11-13) Tracked leader, led 2nd until 6th, chased leader, pushed along before 3 out, ridden and lost 2nd after 3 out, went 2nd again between last 2, stayed on same pace, no chance with winner, 2nd of 7, 9l behind Frero Banbou (11-11) at Sandown 2m hcp (3) gs in Mar.
Sir Sholokhov (IRE) 7-2 (11-9) Held up in touch, headway to track leaders 4 out, shaken up after 3 out, led 2 out, went clear before last, eased down close home, won at Sedgefield 2m hcp (4) gd in Mar beating The Silver Prince (10-0) by 11l, 5 ran.
Ballyhill (FR) 4-1 (11-11) Chased leaders, pecked 8th, led after 14th, headed 3 out, weakened from 2 out, 4th of 7, 22 1/2l behind Psychedelic Rock (12-0) at Doncaster 3m hcp (3) gd in Mar.
