Appach can defy topweight at the expense of Native Commander, Lord Oscar and Damarisco. Appach appears to be a quite progressive sort, and there was a lot to like about his success at Huntingdon where he led at the last before just being pushed out to beat Lord Of The Hill. A 7lb penalty should not inconvenience his follow-up bid, and the Seamus Mullins inmate is the one to beat. Native Commander, third on his last three outings, most recently at Fontwell, should give him a race at least, but the 11-year-old will need to improve to prevail, while Lord Oscar has plenty to find. However, Pipe senior won this last year with Honan, and nothing has changed really in that the new master at Pond House will continue to churn out winner after winner at the west-country track. Not in this race though, and unless Damarisco improves dramatically, he too should fall by the wayside as Appach puts them all to the sword.
