In depth

Verdict

Sou' Wester has the talent but not always the will and instead we plump for CULLAHILL now back up in trip and Bob Buckler's gelding is preferred to Over The Creek and Cold Mountain in a competitive contest. The selection was well-held at Worcester last time where he was beaten over a shorter trip but the longer distance today should see him in a better light and his mark of 120 certainly looks fair when viewed next to his hurdling rating. Over The Creek flopped at Wincanton last time but his April form at Exeter makes him a player and he has been given a break since his last run, Cold Mountain served it up to Hoof It Harry at Fontwell with success and is not ignored despite a 12lb higher mark, whilst Sea Wall looks handicapped to win and seems to flourish at this time of year. Antipodean recruit Ginolad has become disappointing, Hemington may find this tougher than in a Stratford hunter chase in May, whilst Winchester Red joins Mr Ed and Dennis The Legend on the list of dangerously-weighted individuals. Our Hero needs to improve his fencing, whilst Allterrain and Beehawk should relish the quick ground this afternoon. Open stuff then but the nod is given to Cullahill.
